Johnny Red - a Couple Of Heroes

The final Johnny Red story, an action-packed air ace adventure, yet filled with pathos appropriate for a fitting send-off to one of the most popular characters in British comics. Written by Garth Ennis (The Boys, Preacher), a story that he has waited 30 years to tell. JOHNNY RED’S LAST BATTLE In the last year of a long and dreadful war, as vengeful Russian forces reach the German frontier, British-born fighter pilot Johnny Redburn leads Falcon Squadron in deadly strikes against the retreating Nazis. With all his comrades gone and his lover, Nina Petrova, lost somewhere in the maelstrom, the “Red Devil” knows his own doom is only a matter of time. Maybe the next mission, or the one after that - but it’s coming. When a figure from the distant past reappears with an offer of a clandestine operation - an all-out effort against a nightmarish enemy weapons program that could claim the lives of thousands - Johnny finds himself agreeing, despite terrible misgivings. The risks are many, but the prize is the whereabouts of the woman he loves - and Johnny Red will fly through hell for Nina Petrova, no matter what the cost. Yet the unspeakable cruelty of the Soviet hierarchy, not to mention the return of an old and lethal enemy, will push the Englishman’s resolve well past the breaking point. High above the freezing Arctic Ocean, one last aerial duel will decide who lives, who dies - and who is lost forever.
