Athena - Gods And Heroes In The Ancient World

Susan Deacy provides a survey of one of the most enduringly popular of ancient deities. Athena has received much scholarly attention in recent years but often with the focus only on certain aspects of the goddess. Athena is a much-needed, comprehensive assessment of the various representation and approaches. It introduces Athena's myth, cult and reception, while directing the reader to detailed discussion wherever appropriate. The book will be suitable for students, for the general reader with an interest in the ancient world and for those from related disciplines such as Literature, At History and Religion.
